One Parish-Wide Service on September 28th

One Parish-Wide Service on September 28th

10am in Pembroke

Celebrating Confirmation & Reception in the Parish of the Valley: on Sunday, September 28th, the Rt. Rev. Dr. John Chapman, retired Bishop of Ottawa, will join our parish to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation and to formally Receive members into our worldwide Anglican Communion.

There will be one parish-wide service at 10am on Sunday, September 28th, held in Holy Trinity Pembroke (68 Renfrew Street). Five adult members from across the Parish of the Valley will be confirmed by Bishop John, and several others will be received.

There will be a parish-wide massed choir for this service (please bring your local choir robes) and a special time of fellowship will follow the liturgy in the church hall.

All members of the Parish of the Valley are invited to come together for this special parish-wide celebration, and also to wear orange as we anticipate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We will also be marking the 100th anniversary of the current building for Holy Trinity Pembroke, which was constructed in 1925.

Please note that this will be the only service in the Parish of the Valley on that Sunday.

100th Anniversary Dinner

100th Anniversary Dinner

Saturday, September 27th

Cheers to Holy Trinity's first 100 years!

While Holy Trinity Pembroke has a history dating back to 1855, it was 100 years ago the past June that the cornerstone was laid for the current church building.

On Saturday, September 27th we will gather as a parish in the church hall at Holy Trinity to celebrate this milestone and to share a special anniversary dinner. A delicious turkey supper, including wine, dessert and all the fixings, will be catered by St. George's South Alice in partership with Schmidt's Catering. Bishop Michael Bird and Bishop John Chapman, together with many retired former clergy of our deanery, will be our honoured guests.

There are still a few tickets remaining for the dinner and we would be delighted if you could join us. Refreshments will be served beginning at 5 pm with dinner following at 6 pm. Tickets are $50 each. Please contact Marie Cheesman (613-732-3013) to make your purchase and help Holy Trinity make this event a sell-out!

Truth and Reconciliation Virtual Lunch and Learns

Truth and Reconciliation Virtual Lunch and Learns

September 22nd to 26th

Across our country, September 30th is recognized annually as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation; a federal statutory holiday to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools and the Survivors of that system, their families, and communities.

As we journey together towards truth and reconciliation, on Sunday, September 28th we are encouraged to wear orange to mark "Orange Shirt Day" and remember and honour those children who did not come home.

For those who would like an opportunity to "go deep" in learning more about our journey of truth-telling and reconciliation in Canada, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation is offering a series of virtual "Lunch and Learns" daily from September 22nd through 26th. You can learn more and register to attend online at the link below.
